The MP 40 is one of the most iconic weapons of World War II, with approximately 870,000 units produced between 1940 and 1945 by three manufacturers: Erma, Steyr, and Haenel. Among them, Haenel is the least prolific, having ceased MP 40 production by 1942, making "fxo"-marked examples inherently rarer than Steyr (bnz) or Erma (ayf) guns.
Very Good+ overall condition. Original bluing well preserved with even natural patina. Moderate wear at contact points. Barrel in very good condition. Bakelite intact. Folding stock fully functional. Markings sharp and legible. No evidence of refinishing.
This example is a 1st Series (Variant 1), identifiable by:
• Smooth magazine housing (no horizontal reinforcing ribs)
• Claw-type cocking handle (1st lever / Wolfszahn), pre-safety modification
• Hexagonal barrel nut
• Single-manufacturer assembly (monomat)
The combination of Haenel manufacture, 1st Series features, and documented royal provenance makes this an outstanding piece for any serious WWII firearms collector.
