As the armor became increasingly resilient during World War II, it became necessary to introduce a truly capable anti-tank gun into anti-tank formations. The 4.7 cm infantry gun, widely distributed with its anti-tank ammunition, the 1941 24 mm anti-tank arquebus and the 1940 Solo 20 mm anti-tank arquebus, of which there were only a small number of parts, were rigged , not without good reason, of the ironic nickname of "anti-tank door knocker".
Indeed, they were, from their introduction, hardly suitable for engagement with modern tanks. The 4.7 cm anti-tank gun, developed on the basis of the 1935 4.7 cm infantry gun, was a high-performance gun with a muzzle velocity of 750 m / s. He was engaged both in his campaign version (can ach4.7 cm 1941) and in the fortresses.
In order to achieve an even higher performance, a reducer was used in the fortresses to fire undersized Janecek ammunition. However, even this performance was insufficient against the even better armor which appeared towards the end of the war and in the 1950s. Thus all 4.7 cm 41 anti-tank guns were transformed into 1950 9 cm anti-tank guns which were much more efficient thanks to the shaped charge.
